Meet Anna. A 21 year old with a passion for baking… and change making.
When Anna sees #activism trending on Instagram, she recognises an opportunity to share her story. But before she expresses her pre-heated passion online, she lays out steps she can take on and off screen, and thinks of boundaries she can set to safely call out injustice.
HISTORY
Burnt Lemon Theatre was founded by Cara Baldwin and Hannah Benson when they met training on the renowned BA Acting & Contemporary Theatre course at East 15 Acting School. Supported by the New Diorama Graduate Emerging Company scheme and the East 15 Graduate Award, they staged their first all female, all punk production ‘The Half Moon Shania’. The show played at several festivals including VAULT 2019 and won Musical Theatre Review’s ‘Best Musical Award’ at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2018.

Burnt Lemon Theatre went on to win New Diorama/ Underbelly’s UNTAPPED award, which spurred on the creation of their electrifying new musical ‘Tokyo Rose’. During their sell-out run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2019, ‘Tokyo Rose’ was awarded the prestigious Les Enfants Terribles Stepladder Award. The show continues to gain traction and recently completed a successful UK tour in 2021.

Burnt Lemon is currently developing two new musicals and an artist development scheme soon to be launched in late 2022.
